LOS ANGELES, CA — On Thursday, May 7, 2026, Assistant Speaker Pro Tempore Celeste Rodriguez hosted “Mommy and Me Northeast Valley Night at Discovery Cube LA,” a community-centered Mother’s Day celebration designed to connect Northeast San Fernando Valley families to a premier educational asset in their own backyard. The free event created space for families to bond, learn, and experience an evening of fun together.
The event welcomed 500 community members from across the Northeast Valley and included transportation through the support of LA County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. Three chartered buses transported guests from various corners of District 43 to ensure traveling was not a barrier for participation.
“This event is about more than a celebration—it’s about access and belonging,” said Assemblymember Celeste Rodriguez. “We were intentional about creating a space where families from our community could experience Discovery Cube as their own- without any barriers of transportation, entry fee, or food. At a time when costs are rising and immigration actions have impacted our district– we wanted to bring joy. When families have opportunities to learn, explore, and have fun together, it strengthens bonds and supports a child’s long-term success. There is no better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than by uplifting caregivers and creating memorable, shared experiences for families.”
The inaugural event also brought together local organizations and service providers offering resources tailored to the needs of caregivers, including early childhood development programs, family counseling services, and financial empowerment tools that support long-term family stability.

Participants explored Discovery Cube LA’s hands-on STEM exhibits, engaging in interactive, science-based activities designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners—all within a space rooted in their own community.
